Pacing Guides & Curriculum Maps

Pacing guides are timelines of the material that will be covered in each grade level throughout the school year. The subject matter is presented in a logical and progressive format so that you will be able to follow what students are learning during the course of the year in any given subject.

Curriculum mapping
is a way of developing an overview of what students need to learn at every level, and is a method of charting the knowledge and skills that students should be mastering over a period of years. The Steel Academy is excited to present a new sequence of pacing guides and curriculum maps to be used beginning with the 2017-2018 school year. Families are encouraged to call us with any questions regarding our curriculum at The Steel Academy.

College Credit Plus

Students may also be eligible to take advantage of the College Credit Plus program. Ohio's College Credit Plus program can help students earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking college courses from colleges or universities. The purpose of this program is to promote rigorous academic pursuits and to provide a wide variety of options to college-ready students. Taking a college Credit Plus course from a public college or university is free, which means no cost for tuition, books, or fees. Students interested in participating in the program need to fill out a letter of intent and return it to the school. For more information, please contact your school counselor

The Steel Academy Today

Since opening the school in August of 2014, it has been a time of growth and learning at The Steel Academy not just for our students, but for the staff, board and operator as well. Each year the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) provides us with a report card to help evaluate our progress, and see what we are doing well and where we need improvement. We have a plan of action in place to help address any deficiencies identified by ODE to make sure your child is receiving the best education possible. We are providing more opportunity for professional development for our teachers, improving our communication with families, and reaffirming our commitment to the academic and social success of each of the students served by The Steel Academy.
