The Steel Academy is a free public, nonprofit, community school for students in grades 7 through 12 who learn differently. Many of our students have learning disabilities caused by ADHD, Asperger’s or other disorders on the Autism spectrum. All struggle to learn in mainstream educational systems. We inspire students through unique teaching methods that encourage lifelong learning and open doors to the future.

The Steel Academy is governed by Steel Academy, Inc. and operated by United Disability Services. Accredited and sponsored by the Ohio Department of Education.

We Are Students

student
We are important and amazing. We are explorers and artists. We are leaders and bold leaders. We are the nearly 100 students of The Steel Academy. We came here from other schools because we learn differently and struggled in a typical school setting. Here we don't sit quietly at our desks; we participate and are actively learning. Here we are accepted, loved and respected.

We Are Leaders

Our staff is highly qualifed as defined by the Ohio Department of Education. We have a 10:1 student-teacher ratio, and every teacher has either an advanced degree or has reached an advanced level in their subject matter. We are young, enthusiastic and caring.
